How do I transfer a call?

There are three types of transfer: direct, directly to voicemail, and announced. The method you will use to transfer in each of these scenarios will depend on the phone you currently use: Aastra or Polycom.

Aastra phone users:

  • Direct (blind) transfer: Press the Transfer button or the Xfer softkey then dial the number or extension that¬†you want to transfer the caller to, then press Transfer again to complete.
  • Direct to¬†voicemail transfer: Use the direct transfer method above, but dial a 7 before the extension number.
  • Announced Transfer: Press the Transfer button or the Xfer softkey then dial the number or extension that you want to transfer the caller to. Wait for the destination called to answer and speak to them before pressing Transfer to complete it. If the destination called can not take the call, press the Cancel softkey, or the Line key where the first caller is waiting in order to speak to them.

Polycom phone users:

  • Direct (blind) transfer: Press the Transfer button then the Blind softkey. Dial the number or extension to transfer the call to then press Send to complete the transfer.
  • Direct to voicemail transfer: Use the direct transfer method, but dial 7 before the extension number.
  • Announced Transfer: Press the Transfer button then dial the number or extension to transfer the call to. Wait for the destination called to answer and speak to them before pressing Transfer to complete it. If the destination called cannot take the call, press the Cancel softkey on the display then go back to the original caller.
